| Peugeot 308 wins 2007 MPG Marathon |
February 2008 |
It's official! Peugeot's 308 has grabbed the crown in the 2007 MPG Marathon as the most economical family-size car out there.
With an overall return of 71.92mpg, the 308 romped home in a real-world test where rival models slugged it out over 330 miles of city and rural roads.
Peugeot's contender in the AA/ALD Automotive MPG Marathon notched an improvement of 20 per cent over Peugeots own figures.
Economy driving experts John Dalton and David Adams were at the wheel, steering the 308 to triumph over Audi's A3 2.0 TDi, Kia's cee'd 1.6D and Seat's Leon FR TDI.
John said: "This car shows you don't need to compromise on size or practicality when looking to reduce your environmental impact."
Peugeot's 308 HDi range has CO2 emissions from just 120g/km and prices for the 1.6-litre HDi 90 Urban and S models kick off at £11,995.
This model's published fuel economy is up to 62.77mpg on the official combined cycle - but the MPG Marathon result shows it's possible to achieve even more than that.

| Motability Open Days At Pentagon |
December 2007 |
On Wednesday 12 December, 2007, Pentagon are hosting a Motability Open Day between 10am and 2pm for their current and prospective Motability drivers at their showrooms (excluding Oldham which will take place on Wednesday 19th December).
Motability is the leading car scheme for disabled people. In the past 25 years over 1.5 million cars have been supplied, revolutionising many people's lives.
As well as promoting the scheme to potential Motability drivers, Pentagon’s trained Motability Specialists will also be on hand to explain how the Motability programme has changed in the past year, and the new benefits and enhancements now available to motorists qualifying for the Scheme.
Speaking about the event, Pentagon spokesperson James Reeve said: “Pentagon has been a huge supporter of the Motability scheme since 1991 and we believe that the recent changes have made the Motability programme more attractive and cost effective than ever before.”
“There's no need to book for this Motability event. We are inviting people to join us any time between 10am and 2pm on Wednesday 12 December for coffee, cakes and a chat.”
Pentagon are also encouraging current Motability drivers to bring along any friends or relatives who might qualify for the scheme and who would like to find out more about it.
James added: ‘We enjoy a good reputation for providing a Motability service that is both comprehensive and caring. As part of our all-inclusive service, we can provide assistance with applications, finance advice and all the practical help anyone will ever need with ongoing maintenance and servicing. | The New 308 is here |
September 2007 |
The all new Peugeot 308 arrived at Pentagon recently and is now available for test drive.
The aim with the 308 was to produce a car that set new levels of style, quality and efficiency.
Such was the determination of Peugeot Design Director Keith Ryder and his team that they spent years refining the design, then testing it, then refining it a little more. Then, (in case this wasn't sufficient!), they road tested it for 1.2 million miles!
The result is a car we're extremely proud of; a car that is designed to consider the environment, a car with a new level of quality, a car that's great to drive.

| Pentagon Opens the door for the 207 CC |
February 2007 |
The stylish 207 CC will be racing into the Pentagon showroom this March to replace the world’s best selling Coupe Cabriolet – the Peugeot 206 CC.
The 207 CC will be available at launch with two petrol engines and one diesel engine combined with two trim levels – Sport and GT. Both of the petrol engines have been developed as part of the co-operation between PSA Peugeot Citroën and the BMW Group and introduce technology not normally found in this market segment.
The first engine, and the one which is expected to be the most popular choice, is the 1.6 litre 120 bhp petrol engine. This engine has greater performance across the range than the previous 1.6 litre petrol engine fitted to the 206 CC and with a combined drive cycle fuel consumption figure of 43.5 mpg, reduces fuel consumption and emissions by 8% and 7% respectively.
The second petrol engine is the class leading 1.6 litre 150 bhp THP petrol turbo-charged engine first seen in the 207 GT THP 150 hatchback. This engine offers incredible engine flexibility due to its maximum torque of 180 lb ft available from an engine speed of only 1400 rpm and its maximum power of 150 bhp at 5800 rpm. The use of an innovative Twin-Scroll turbocharger, variable inlet valve timing and direct high-pressure fuel injection creates an engine with a remarkable balance between performance and low fuel consumption / emissions.
The final engine is Peugeot’s class leading 1.6 litre HDi diesel engine producing 110 bhp which is also fitted with a diesel particulate emission filter (DPFS) so ensures excellent performance and low fuel consumption with emissions of only 136 g/km.
The 1.6 litre 120 bhp petrol engine is available with either a five-speed manual gearbox or a four-speed automatic gearbox with “Porsche Tiptronic” sequential manual selection as well.
The new electric folding roof for the 207 CC has been designed in-house and is the result of Peugeot’s expertise in the design and manufacture of coupé cabriolets. It has been designed against a rigorous specification in terms of quality and operating durability.
With a similar operation to the 206 CC, the 207 CC roof, however, differs significantly in terms of convenience thanks to its entirely automatic operation – no more manual release handles. The only manual operation consists of pressing the control button once and waiting just 25 seconds, during which time the opening or closing cycle is completed; after all four windows have been lowered automatically.
Pentagon is offering customers a 24 hour test drive to give them time to experience the 207CC's remarkable road handling and enjoy its superior features. With a starting price of just £14,795 on the road and 1 years free insurance, there really couldn't be a better time to visit the showroom.
For further details on the 207 CC or to test drive any of the other models please visit Pentagon Peugeot Burton On Trent or phone 01283 51515 or alternatively visit www.pentagon-peugeot.co.uk |
